On 29 July 2008, excavation for nuclear island of Unit 1 and 2 of Haiyang Phase I was started, which will be the final preparation for first concrete in September 2009. The Haiyang Nuclear Power Project is a strategic solution to optimize power portfolio, guarantee energy safety, promote emission reduction and speed up favorable and fast economic development in Shandong Province.
