On 18 April 2008, CPI signed Framework Agreement on Cooperation to develop energy projects in Xinjiang with Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government in Urumqi. The signing of the agreement marks the cooperation between CPI and Xinjiang makes new headway and substantive steps are taken by CPI to engage in the development of Xinjiang.  

To follow up the Agreement, CPI is to speed up the coal and power integration, co-generation, wind power and solar power development as well as non-ferrous metal processing in Xinjiang.
