At 21：02 hours on 2April 2008, the first unit of Zhuxikou Hydropower Plant was successfully connected to Hunan power grid. At 22:05 hours on 6April 2008, the unit passed 72-hour test run smoothly.
Zhuxikou Hydropower Plant is the second project developed by Wuling Electric Power Company Limited in Zijiang River basins. This Plant is mainly used for electricity generation but also for navigation and other purposes. The Plant has a controllable area at the dam site covering 23,213km2, a total reservoir capacity of 19.5 millionm3, and bulb units with a total installed capacity of 74MW and designed annual electricity generation of 295 million kwh. The total engineering cost of the Plant amounts to 719 million RMB.
